Las petroleras estatales de Chile y Ecuador firmaron un convenio con el que permitirá a la petrolera chilena, recibir unos 100.000 barriles de crudo diraios y entregaran a cambio al Ecuador, productos derivados de dicho petróleo.
El acuerdo firmado por los gerentes de las estatales petroleras, tendrá vigencia de un año, con posibilidades de renovacion por un período que determinen las partes. Esta operación es una muestra de una estrategia chilena para garantizar el suministro de crudo de calidad para sus refinerías y establecer relaciones bilaterales directas de largo plazo con los proveedores, como la pretrolera ecuatoriana”.
Enap (Chile) y Petroecuador se comprometieron a evaluar, económica y comercialmente, la posible explotacion de hidrocarburos en el golfo de Guayaquil (Bloque 40).
La estatal chilena tiene acuerdos con Ecuador desde el año 2003, que ha permitido explorar y extraer hidrocarburos en algunos campos petroleros como: Paraiso, Biguno,Mauro Dávalos C. y otros.
